DESCRIPTION

This pieris variety, too, belongs to yakushimanum group. It means that it forms a low, very compact, attractive bush. In continental climate it grows about 40 cm tall and 80-100 cm wide, whereas in countries with high air humidity it may grow to 1m after many years. Leaves are elongated, narrow, pointed, semi-glossy, mid to deep green. Lily-of-the-valley-like white flowers open from orange-pink buds, formed on narrow panicles. It is an ericaceous plant which needs moist soil, preferably acidic. If your soil is not rich in organic matter add some fertilizer every now and then to keep the plant look and grow healthy, and to avoid drying new buds. Yakushimanum pieris is ideal for Japanese style gardens. Fully hardy.
