Euphorbia characias ssp. wulfenii 'BOSAHAN' Mediterranean spurge

Mediterranean spurge is an excellent architectural plant. It has linear grey-green leaves formed along the entire length of stem which is upto 1m tall. Flowers are yellow-green cyathias borne in dense cylindrical to spherical, terminal cymes from early spring to early summer. Bosahan variety has extra large flowers with purple-black centres. Cut out flowered stems to ground after flowering to encourage growth of new stems that will flower in the next season.
It is soil tolerant but prefers slightly acidic and moist during the season but dry in winter. It withstands temperatures of -15° to -17°C without damage to leaves or terminal flower buds. Should there be long lasting frosts it has to be protected with fir branches. The safest way to grow this small shrub in regions with cold winters to over-winter it in a frost-free place with enough sunlight.
