Pinus densiflora (syn. 'Ja-nome') 'OCULUS DRACONIS' Japanese red pine Dragon Eye

Pinus
Pine trees are superb trees which grow in a wide climate scale - from cold northern countries to hot coastal sites. They are probably most beautiful in their natural environment.Have you ever seen a pine that would be more decked out than this Dragon Eye Japanese red pine? Its Japanese name is “Ja-nome” and it attracts your attention thanks to its wide creamy yellow bands on long needles. It has quite irregular growth, it mostly spreads to sides so if you want a neat tree you have to stake the main stem and model the branches a little when young. Female cones are blue-green and plentiful. It needs a slightly moist site with a bit of peat and a sunny location. Fully hardy.
