BELONGS TO CATEGORIES Fruit trees

Apricot trees have a long running history in our country. Even distribution of cold and warm weather gives our fruit the best taste and aroma.

Maďarská (‘Hungarian’) is one of the classic self-fertile varieties cultivated mainly in Moravian orchards. The fruit is medium large, rounded, rich orange (skin and flesh), sometimes with red highlights, and ripens in late July. It is very tasty and pleasantly sweet. For immediate consumption it should be picked only after the fruit is dark orange – then it contains the highest level of sugar and is very aromatic. For processing and transport harvesting is recommended about a week before maturity since red-skinned fruit is difficult to store.

Apricot trees are quite attractive even without flowers or fruit. They have nice leaves of fresh to mid green colour with red stalks. The growth rate is medium to vigorous, forming a rounded crown. Pruning is possible after flowering but not essential. Apricot trees need sunny and warm locations. The soil must be fertile, well-drained. They are very (USDA zone 6 or lower) but dislike rapid temperature swings, and flowers are prone to frost damage.
