Fleabane is a flowering perennial typical for dry rockeries, rocky slopes or walls where water freely flows away. Being often found at salt-sprayed seacoasts it is also called beach aster. It is one of these foolproof plants which, once transplanted well, need absolutely nothing apart from optional deadheading of spent flowers unless you wish it to self-seed in order to produce new plants close by.

Sea Breeze is a natural fleabane selection found by Frederick Yates in his garden bed in Congleton near Manchester (UK) in 1992. It makes fantastic, eye-catching and large daisy-like flowers which are up to 4 cm across. They are rich lilac pink, semi-double, with a large yellow-green central disc. They come out from June for an extremely long period of time - new buds are produced until September! Flowering stems are 20 to 30 cm long but with its procumbent habit the plant is only a little bellow 20 cm tall. Basal leaves are pale green, narrow, slightly hairy, and may remain evergreen in mild winters. It is nice after winter no action is needed, if the leaves were damaged you can cut the plant above ground level in early spring.
Fleabane loves full sun and moderately fertile, well-drained soil that will not remain wet over winter. Place it in a bed or rockery and provide extra watering only on hot and dry days of spring and summer if plant were freshly transplanted. Hardy to min. -30°C (USDA zone 5), and may take a few degrees lower with winter protection.
