Description of the plant:
Aubretia is a rock plant with fantastic colour of flowers early in the season. Kitte is a variety with large flowers, possibly twice as big compared to other aubretias, rich magenta purple or purple violet with prominent veins and a small yellow eye around the throat. Leaves are evergreen, dull green, thick, quite small. It flowers usually from mid April for a few weeks. Aubretia likes free draining soil or a pot with gritty soil. It is a beautiful edging plant for perennial beds – after the flowering has finished it makes a nice groundcover that benefits from light pruning, possibly with a small dose of a liquid fertilizer after flowering. Hardy to about -29°C (USDA zone 5).
