Deutzia x hybrida 'MAGICIEN' deutzia

Deutzia
Deutzias come from eastern Asia. They are low-maintenance shrubs ideal for every garden size and very gardener as they are so easy to grow. They bloom in June with cup- to star-shaped flowers and are slightly fragrant.Magicien is a hybrid deutzia with bushy habit and deep pink and white flowers from early or mid June. Deciduous leaves are broadly elliptic, mid green, slightly drooping, turning yellow and pink in autumn. An interesting feature is the reddish-orange bark with white stripes on new branches and peeling bark on older branches which is best viewed in winter when the leaves have fallen down.
This variety grows as a compact, vase-shaped shrub. Removing all branches that had flowers immediately after flowering will encourage production of new twigs without unsightly dry seedpods. Deutzia blooms on previous year’s wood. Mature shrubs can grow to the same height you reduced it by within the same season. It is suitable for small gardens, too.
Deutzias are quite soil adaptable. They will thrive in heavy clay soil as well once established, no fertilizing needed. They like full sun and moist soil but will also grow in semi-shade. Fully hardy to about -30°C (USDA zone 5).
