Dryopteris affinis golden male fern

Golden male fern is the basic species from which the most beautiful varieties arose. The golden bit in the name is relevant for the midrib which is yellowish-brown but cannot influence the overall appearance of bright green colour. The leaves are very hardy and withstand frosts for a certain period. We suggest cutting them all off anyway in spring to encourage new growths. It needs partial shade or shade, acid and moist but well-drained soil. Fully hardy.
