Magnicur Core fungicide
Magnicur Core is a fungicide used to protect fruit trees, grapevines, and ornamental plants against common fungal diseases such as apple scab, powdery mildew, downy mildew of grapes, rusts, and leaf spots. It works by forming a protective layer on the surface of leaves and fruits that stops fungal spores from germinating, while part of the active substance also penetrates into the plant tissues to protect even the untreated parts. Thanks to this dual action it provides long‑lasting protection and is resistant to being washed off by rain. It is therefore mainly applied during the growing season when there is a risk of fungal infection, helping plants stay healthy and fruit or flowers remain undamaged.
-
What Magnicur Core can do: It protects plants from fungal diseases such as powdery mildew or apple scab. It creates a protective film on leaves and fruits that prevents spores from germinating, and part of the active substance penetrates into the tissues, so the plant is protected from the inside as well.
-
What Magnicur Core cannot do: It cannot cure leaves or fruits that are already infected. Spots, coatings, or deformities that have appeared on the plant will not disappear – the product only stops the disease from spreading further.
-
What to use when the plant is already heavily infected: At this stage, systemic fungicides from other groups (for example, azoles) are more effective, because they penetrate deeper into the tissues and can act against an ongoing infection. At the same time, it is advisable to remove the most damaged parts of the plant to prevent the disease from spreading further.
Active substance and formulation: Magnicur Core contains trifloxystrobin (500 g/kg), a fungicide from the strobilurin group (FRAC code 11). It is formulated as water‑dispersible granules (WG).
Mode of action:
-
Trifloxystrobin acts preventively by inhibiting mitochondrial respiration in fungal cells. Specifically, it blocks electron transfer at the Qo site of the cytochrome bc1 complex, which stops energy production and halts fungal growth.
-
It prevents spore germination and mycelial development on the plant surface.
-
The compound shows a unique mesostemic effect: it binds strongly to the waxy cuticle of leaves and fruits, forming a stable protective reservoir. From this layer, the active ingredient is gradually released, ensuring long‑lasting protection.
-
Thanks to translaminar activity, trifloxystrobin penetrates into the leaf tissue and protects the opposite, untreated side. Small amounts can also redistribute by vapor phase, extending protection to adjacent plant parts.
Spectrum of activity:
-
Apple: scab (Venturia inaequalis), powdery mildew (Podosphaera leucotricha).
-
Grapevine: powdery mildew (Erysiphe necator).
-
Ornamentals: powdery mildew, rusts, and leaf spot diseases.
Characteristics:
-
Acts primarily preventively, therefore should be applied before or at the onset of infection.
-
Provides long residual activity and is resistant to wash‑off by rain.
-
Maximum of three applications per season is recommended, in line with anti‑resistance strategies for strobilurins (single‑site mode of action).
Application method: Water‑dispersible granules for dilution and foliar spray.

- STANDARD QUALITY - Plants of this group are 1st class quality with number of branches and overall density adequate to their size and age, considering they were container grown.
- DE LUXE QUALITY - This label guarantees a luxurious quality of manually selected plants that, compared to their height and age, are exceptionally dense and beautiful.
- EXTRA - These plants are usually mature and bigger specimens with exceptional overall appearance.
- STANDARD (as described in the plant form) means a tree with a trunk of 190-210 cm and a crown at the top, unless specified differently. The commercial size for trees is their girth measured in the height of 1m from ground.
- HOBBY - These plants are of the same quality as our standard-quality plants but younger and therefore cheaper.
- SHRUB - a woody plant with branches growing bushy from the ground level.
- HALF-STANDARD or MINI-STANDARD - a small tree with shorter trunk, its size is usually specified.
- FEATHERED - These are trees with branches growing already from the base of the trunk and up along the stem.
- GRASSES and PERENNIALS - Sizes given usually read the diameter of the pot or the clump, as specified.
