Magnicur Energy fungicide

categorized

Magnicur Energy is a systemic fungicide – a product used against downy mildews. It is mainly applied when young plants are threatened by so‑called “true downy mildews,” i.e. diseases caused by soil‑borne and foliar pathogens such as Pythium or Phytophthora. You can recognize the infection by the fact that young seedlings start to turn brown at the base and become constricted at the stem, the roots soften and die, the leaves turn yellow and wilt, and in the case of foliar mildews a whitish to gray coating appears on the underside of the leaves. Magnicur Energy is therefore typically used during the raising of vegetable seedlings (cucumbers, lettuce, brassicas) or ornamental plants to prevent damping‑off and root rots. It is thus a product for protecting young plants against downy mildews, not against all fungal diseases.

  • What Magnicur Energy can do: It protects young plants against so‑called “true downy mildews” (Pythium, Phytophthora, Peronospora, Bremia, Pseudoperonospora). These soil‑borne and foliar pathogens cause damping‑off of seedlings, root and stem base rots, and leaf mildews (such as cucumber, lettuce, or cabbage downy mildew). The product works systemically – the active substances move through the plant and provide both preventive and early curative protection.

  • What Magnicur Energy cannot do: It does not control diseases caused by other fungi, such as Fusarium or Verticillium. If roots or leaves are already badly damaged and tissues are dying, the product cannot heal them – it only prevents further spread of the downy mildews it is designed for.

  • What to use when the plant is already heavily infected: In such cases, other products are more effective.

product description:

Magnicur Energy is a systemic fungicide. It acts against soil‑borne and foliar diseases of the class Oomycetes (Pythium spp., Aphanomyces spp., Phytophthora spp., Bremia spp., Pseudoperonospora spp. and Peronospora spp.), which cause damping‑off of seedlings, root necrosis, stem base rots, and diseases of above‑ground plant parts.

The active substance propamocarb acts locally systemically and is transported acropetally within plants. It interferes with several stages of phospholipid and fatty acid synthesis, thereby disrupting the formation of cell membranes in pathogenic fungi (FRAC code 28, mode of action F4, carbamates). At the cellular level it inhibits mycelial growth, spore production, and spore germination. It also stimulates root development, plant growth and flowering, and increases plant vigor.

It has both preventive and curative activity. The active substance fosetyl belongs to the phosphonates, specifically the ethylphosphonate subgroup (FRAC code 33). It acts in a targeted way, influencing amino acid metabolism and protein composition, and strengthens the resistance of plant tissues to infection. It reduces zoosporangia germination, blocks mycelial growth, and partially limits sporulation. It is effective mainly against fungi of the class Oomycetes (Phytophthora spp., Plasmopara spp., Peronospora spp., Perenoplasmopara spp., Pythium spp. etc.) and also against some other fungi and bacteria (Erwinia amylovora). It acts systemically, moving both acropetally (through the xylem) and basipetally (through the phloem). It is absorbed by both the aerial parts of plants and the roots. It acts only preventively, works best during active plant growth, and is characterized by long‑lasting effectiveness. It provides very good protection of young, developing plant tissues.

GLOSSARY
  • STANDARD QUALITY - Plants of this group are 1st class quality with number of branches and overall density adequate to their size and age, considering they were container grown.
  • DE LUXE QUALITY - This label guarantees a luxurious quality of manually selected plants that, compared to their height and age, are exceptionally dense and beautiful.
  • EXTRA - These plants are usually mature and bigger specimens with exceptional overall appearance.
  • STANDARD (as described in the plant form) means a tree with a trunk of 190-210 cm and a crown at the top, unless specified differently. The commercial size for trees is their girth measured in the height of 1m from ground.
  • HOBBY - These plants are of the same quality as our standard-quality plants but younger and therefore cheaper.
  • SHRUB - a woody plant with branches growing bushy from the ground level.
  • HALF-STANDARD or MINI-STANDARD - a small tree with shorter trunk, its size is usually specified.
  • FEATHERED - These are trees with branches growing already from the base of the trunk and up along the stem.
  • GRASSES and PERENNIALS - Sizes given usually read the diameter of the pot or the clump, as specified.
