Description of the plant

The basic species obovata is a magnificent tree that can grow to 25 m. This variety, however, grows to 5m maximum and is suitable for every garden. It comes from China and Japan. Flowers are cup shaped, purple on the outside, white inside. This shrub blooms in April/May on bare branches, and often again in June when it is in leaf. Like all magnolias, it needs slightly acidic soil and moist conditions.
