Pinus strobus 'TINY CURLS' white pine, Weymouth pine

White (Weymouth) pines are very popular for their soft needles which you want to touch over and over again. They are usually long, silvery blue-green and come in whorls of 5.Tiny Curls is a picturesque selection of white pine with twisted needles and straight trunk and branches. The needles are mid green with a silver stripe. It is very similar to another variety with twisted needles called Torulosa but Tiny Curls show much more symmetrical growth, forming a compact, conical shape at a slower growth rate. Being new in the gardening world its ultimate size is not known yet but only expected: about 2-3m tall and 1-1.5m wide in 20-25 years.
Pines like sunny locations and well-drained, sandy soil, they do not need much fertilizing. They are practically maintenance-free. Fully hardy to about -37°C (USDA 3).
