Description of the plant:
Stella is one the best modern self-fertile varieties of sweet cherries. It comes from Canada and produces reliable crop of large, sweet, very dark red, juicy fruit from end July. Self-fertile means it does not need a pollinating partner and you can have just one tree in the garden and there will always be fruit. Moreover, Stella is a good pollinator for many other self-sterile sweet cheriies commonly cultivated. It grows at medium growth rate, forming an upright tree with rounded crown with age. It remains a somewhat small tree reaching 3m in full maturity. It likes slightly acidic, well drained but moist soil. It does well in exposed locations. Fully hardy to min. -29°C.
