Rosa 'Frantasia' RHAPSODY IN BLUE® polyantha rose

RHAPSODY IN BLUE® rose is considered the bluest rose in the market to date. Obviously, sky blue colour is still something everyone dreams of, but this invention was a real breakthrough as it makes flowers of deep purple violet flowers with minimum of red tones. The flowers are medium-sized, semi-double, and sometimes with a thin white line across the petal. The centre is decorated with rich yellow stamens. They have a strong clove and spice fragrance. Leaves are mid green, very glossy and healthy. It forms an upright shrub with strong flowering stems that do not bend. RHAPSODY IN BLUE® rose was bred by Frank R. Cowlishaw from Derby, UK, in 2000, and patented in 2007 under PP17518 as ‘Frantasia’.
Planting instructions: Prepare a hole of size 30x30 cm. Put your rose in the way that the grafting point is 3 cm deep in the soil. Water well and cover new shoots with soil or bark mulch about 15 cm high. Roses tolerate wide range of soils but thrive in deep, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, in full sun.
Pruning: These roses needn’t be pruned unless you need to rejuvenate older plants. In such case prune hard all stems to 3-5 live buds in early spring after all frosts. During the season you can deadhead spent flowers, best by removing the top of the stem above the first leaf with 5 leaflets.
