Description of the plant:

MARONDO® rose is for lovers of dark and rich colours. It bears smaller, 5-6 cm wide, single to semi-double flowers with 9-16 petals. Their colour is ruby red and the fragrance is weak, but the variety boasts excellent health as it is highly resistant to common diseases. It blooms repeatedly and abundantly, making it an excellent source of nectar for bees. It also performs well in semi-shaded areas. It is part of the Sunflare® Roses series which includes roses significantly resistant to all-day sun, heat, and drought. It was developed by Kordes Rosen in Germany and introduced in 2017. It is very hardy to min. -29 °C (USDA zone 5) and can be cultivated year-round in deep containers.

Planting instructions: Plant it in the same level as it is now in the container. Provide a good support for the stem. Water it well and mulch it for winter. Roses tolerate wide range of soils but thrive in deep, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, in full sun. If you live in a region with harsh and long winters protect the crown and the grafting point with white woven.

Growing conditions and care

Pruning: In spring after danger of all frosts prune the crown lightly to form a solid framework, and remove ill, dry and weak branches. Spent flowers are best removed as they begin to fade. Cut off spent flowering clusters just above the leaf with 5 leaflets. Follow a regular feeding programme during the growing season in order to enhance formation of new flowers.
