Extase® is a novelty Japanese spindle with attractive foliage. Its evergreen leaves are bright yellow with dark green margins and yellow branches. It is very similar to Aureopictus variety but is smaller and more compact. It is an ideal plant for dark corners and to brighten up borders with e.g. dark green conifers.
Japanese spindles are quite soil tolerant. They will do well in almost any well-drained soil, preferably moist, but not wet. Varieties with coloured foliage are best grown in part shade or summer sun and winter shade. Even if leaves are scorched in winter don't worry, the plant will always make a lot of new ones in spring. Protect them from extreme winds. Hardy to about -20°C (USDA zone 6b).
