I always feel a proud when describing a plant that comes from our Czech breeding. Prague viburnum is one of them and the name tells where exactly this hybrid originated in 1955. It is a cross between viburnum rhytidophyllum and viburnum utile.

Prague viburnum is an evergreen shrub with lustrous, glossy, elliptic leaves that show deep veins and are softer green as opposed to its parent. They curl up a bit in winter to reduce evaporation. Small, white flowers are gathered in terminal, almost flat cymes and open in late May. This plant is vital and vigorous so if you wish to have a neat, dense looking plant we recommend pruning it regularly from young age in early spring. It responds great to any kind of pruning or shearing.

This viburnum is not picky about soil type but as every evergreen plant it will thrive and look best when planted in well-drained, medium fertile, slightly acidic soil. It is very hardy and withstand temperatures down to about -27°C (USDA zone 5) without serious injuries.
