Schattenmorelle is a sour cherry variety with bright red fruit. The flesh is red, sour, not very sweet, and very juicy. Freestone.
It is a self-fertile variety that needs no pollination partner. It crops reliably every year, bearing plentiful of fruit at the ends of partly weeping branches. Semi-vigorous. Grow it in well-drained, fertile soil in full sun. It will benefit from extra watering during dry spells from spring to early summer before the fruit turns red. Hardy.
