Description of the plant

Red Rocket is a thorny barberry with very attractive deep red foliage that turns bright cerise / red in autumn (similarly as euonymus alatus). Flowers are pale yellow and appear in spring. They are followed by blood-red fruits, favourite food for birds.

Growing conditions and care

This upright shrub will thrive in any location, any soil provided it is well-drained. For deep red foliage it will do its best in a sunny spot. Responds well to pruning. Fully hardy to -34°C (USDA zone 4).
