Standing Stone is a clump-forming bamboo with erect, dark green, strudy canes and rich green, narrowly elongated, evergreen leaves. Young twigs are almost black. It forms a dense bush ideal for screening. Fargesia is a genus of bamboo which is not only the most suitable type for our climate (zone 6), it is also one of the most attractive bamboos offering beautiful plants.
This bamboo is clump-growing so it does not need root barrier as it is not invasive. Grow it in fertile, moisture retentive soil. Standing Stone can be grown in full sun, too, if the soil is kept evenly moist, otherwise in part shade. It is hardy to about -24°C.
