Orientalia® is a hybrid maple from a very productive French nursery Minier. It is a cross between acer campestre and acer cappadocicum. Bred by Christian Peyron it was first introduced in 2010.
Leaves of Orientalia® maple are shaped the same way as hedge maple but their colour and size is more relevant to its second parent Cappadocian maple. They are deciduous, deeply lobed with pointed tips, golden orange with red flushed margins as they emerge in spring, light yellow-green in summer, and maroon red in autumn.
It grows medium fast into a small tree or a large shrub with slightly irregular rounded head. Pruning is possible at the end of winter. Grow it in full sun or just with a little shade in evenly moist, medium-fertile soil. Hardy to about -29°C (USDA zone 5).
