Himalájský cedr is the most graceful of all cedars. Robusta Glauca is an Italian selection with long, evergreen needles. Their colour is from blue-green to almost silvery blue while new shoots are soft green. Robusta Glauca cedar is unique for its robust structure with strong stem and habit which is not as fluffy as the species. Lateral branches grow from the central leader in the angle of 90°or just a little less, and continue forming an almost horizontal layer where only the new twigs are slightly drooping.
This cedar naturally forms a pyramidal shape, quite regular when young, and its estimated size in Central-European conditions is around 13m tall and nearly half of it wide. It grows best in full sun and almost any reasonably permeable soil. Lime tolerant. Pruning is possible in early spring. It is also hardier than the species and is rated hardy to USDA zone 5b i.e. -27°C.
