Rose der Hoffnung® means ‘Rose of Hope’ and was bred by Kordes nurseries in 2011. It reflects their contribution to the Tour of Hope organization helping children fight cancer. From each rose sold Kordes pay 1 euro to the Tour der Hoffnung account in Germany which in 2012 reached the amount 24 million euro.

This rose is a lovely combination of golden yellow centre and pink and salmon margins. The blooms are 7-8 cm across, not very fragrant but quite resistant to diseases, especially black spot. Its leaves remain deep green and glossy all season round. It grows upright, about 70 cm tall and 40 cm wide.

Planting instructions: Prepare a hole of size 30x30 cm. Put your rose in the way that the grafting point is 3 cm deep in the soil. Water well and cover new shoots with soil or bark mulch about 15 cm high. Roses tolerate wide range of soils but thrive in deep, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, in full sun.

Pruning: These roses needn’t be pruned. What you can do though is deadhead stems with spent flowers above the first leaf with 5 leaflets. You can trim the shrub in early spring. Fore rejuvenation cut back the plant every 3-4 years to 3-5 live buds in spring.
