Kleiner Turm (Small Tower) is a German variety of Austrian pine. It is a dwarf plant of widely columnar, compact habit and slow growth. It has long, stiff, deep green needles. Mature size has not been observed yet but is expected to reach about 1.5m.
It will look great as a small specimen in a lawn, or will be a perfect piece in a Japanese garden, or a large rockery surrounded by stones, white sand or pebbles. It can be grown in a large outdoor container. Pines need full sun and well-drained soil that will not be too alkaline, no fertilizing required. Austrian pine is commonly hardy to about -40°C (USDA zone 3) and this variety is supposed to be equally hardy.
