Description of the plant

Little Gem is a true dwarf among dwarf conifers. It is a sport of Nidiformis Norway spruce with mid to pale green, very short needles and very compact habit. The plant keeps very dense and needs no shaping to look nice. Naturally it forms a globose or mounded shape.

Growing dwarf conifers is very easy. Once established they need little or no maintenance, and can be used in rockeries, pots, and throws. They needn't be pruned as we are happy for every centimeter they make. Though, modeling or trimming is possible in early spring or midsummer.

Growing conditions and care

Norway spruce will grow in any, reasonably drained soil in full sun or part shade. Avoid extremes of dry or wet ground. Hardy to about -40°C (USDA zone 3).
