True pink is the colour of this beautiful Cheal´s Weeping Cherry. Either a standard or a half standard tree, this flowering cherry always has rather pendulous branches forming a wide crown.
Double flowers appear on bare branches at the end of April and continue throughout May already with new leaves which are bronze red first, turning to bright green later. As a medium-sized tree it usually grows about 3m high and 3m wide so it can easily fit within a small garden, too.
When planting it, make sure the root-ball is well soaked with water. Use humus enriched soil which will remain moist, not wet. Cherries are said to do better in acidic soil but are quite adaptable. Pruning is recommended to take place in summer months to prevent silver leaf and bacteria canker. Fully hardy to some -28°C (USDA zone 5).
