Acrocona is a beauty among Norway spruces. It is a smaller variety with picturesque cones at the tips of the branches. They are small, rich raspberry red and appear from May. Later they turn brown as they mature.
Needles are medium short, deep green, and prickly. The habit is somewhat narrowly conical, however, specimens vary with size and ration between height and width as well as shape. Usually it is as wide as tall, but there are plants that remained very narrow until maturity.
Norway spruce will grow in any, reasonably drained soil in full sun or part shade. Avoid extremes of dry or wet ground. Hardy to about -40°C (USDA zone 3).
