Dutch coneflower breeder Arie Blom is a renowned breeder of coneflowers. At the end of 2016 his list shows an incredible number of 30 varieties, all of them beautiful and unique. Pink Double Delight is an addition from 2004, patented as PP18803 in 2008.

Pink Double Delight is a delightful coneflower variety. It produces clear pink, double flowers from early July until September. The flowers come out almost flat, showing medium pink, 2-3 cm long ray florets surrounded by numerous, dwarf, darker pink petals turning paler towards the central disc where a rim of creamy white petals contrasts with the dark orange centre. Stems are strong, 50-60 cm tall, and produce flowers freely. Regular deadheading and fertilizing is highly recommended for continuous production of large flowers.

Coneflowers are maintenance-free perennials blooming from early or mid summer until early fall. They come out on sturdy stems that do not break in wind or heavy rain. Flowers attract butterflies and bumble bees. Lanceolate leaves are medium green and grow from the ground and then up along the stems.

Coneflower will tolerate almost any soil type but boggy and highly acidic. It loves full sun. It is suitable for mixed borders with perennials, or can be used as a flowering feature among low shrubs and conifers, and looks lovely when planted in a mass in a container on patios and balconies. Fully hardy to min. -30°C (USDA zone 5), possibly a few degrees lower.
