TerraNova® Nurseries from Oregon is a leading breeder of beautiful stonecrop varieties in the USA. In late 2016 its list shows 25 plants and the most contributing hybridizers are Janet N.Egger and Gary J.Gossett. Hot Stuff was invented by the latter and patented in 2006, PP17212.

Hot Stuff is not only a legendary hit by legendary Donna Summer. It is also a unique stonecrop variety of dwarf habit. It is a seedling of Brillant, and possibly the shortest sedum spectabile in the market today. It makes dense plants with large dome-like heads composed of numerous star-shaped flowers of dark pink colour on the background of pale green leaves.

Stonecrops (orpines) are perfect plants for autumn borders. They add extra colour on an architecturally interesting plant. These perennials are easy to grow, they will like almost any well-drained soil, they do well in rockeries and outdoor pots (without saucer). Cut them back in early spring but be careful not to damage young buds at the ground. Let them dry out before next watering - excess water brings a danger of fungi diseases. Avoid CHEMICAL SPRAYS with this variety. Fully hardy to min. -34°C (USDA zone 4).
