Just like many beautifully flowering trees or shrubs, this flowering cherry, too, comes from China. It is a British selecion of highly demanded and popular variety called Kanzan from 1935 of much less vigorous growth making it suitable for small gardens as well.

Pink Perfection flowering cherry bears profusion of fully double, rich pink flowers from late April until early May. Deciduous leaves are typically cherry-like, broadly elliptic, serrated at margins, deep green in summer, and multicoloured in autumn if the plant grows in acid soil. They turn yellow, golden, orange, scarlet red and also a little bit of burgundy red. The canopy is narrowly vase-shaped, compact, and dense, growing moderately about 25-30 cm per year.

Pink Perfection is a trouble and pest free tree which will cope with almost any soil apart from compacted and water-logged. For best results, however, grow it in constantly moist, deep, moderately fertile, preferably acid soil in full sun. Pruning is not recommended in order to avoid infections. It is rated hardy to USDA zone 5b (-27°C) but can cope with lower temperatures for a limited period of time.
