BELONGS TO CATEGORIES | Evergreen broadleaf |
Sulphur Heart is another attractive large-leaved variety of Persian ivy with varigated foliage. The evergreen leaves are almost a size of an adult man's palm, heart shaped, leathery, slightly glossy, dark green at margins and of various depths of yellow and light green in the centre. Some leaves are just green.
Its aerial roots cling to any surface (support). It grows faster than common ivy and reliably forms dense walls of varigated foliage. This evergreen climber is ideal as a complement plant for any evergreen arrangement.
It will grow almost anywhere, however, the contrast between yellow and green parts of the leaves will contrast more in shaded locations. In full sun the foliage will produce more yellow shades which turn slightly rusty brown in winter. It prefers alkaline, moist, semi-fertile soil that is well drained. Fully hardy to min. -27°C (USDA zone 5b).
