BELONGS TO CATEGORIES | Fruit trees |
Redhaven is one of the most successful commercial varieties of peach in the world. It comes from the USA, and was registered in 1973.
It flowers profusely, is self-fertile and very productive. The fruit is mid-sized, with yellow and red hairy skin and yellow flesh and ripens from mid to end summer. The taste is nice, aromatic and sweet. It is ideal for eating fresh or can be preserved.
As with other peach trees, this one, too, needs to be treated against leaf-curl. As soon as the buds burst treat it with an anti-leaf-curl solution (available in every good garden centre).
We suggest planting peach trees in free space so it can feel cold, spring breeze which will delay flowering and thus prevent the flowers from frost damage. It likes slightly alkaline soil, moist but well drained. Do not transplant bare-root trees in autumn, only in spring. Pruning is possible in mid August – cut long branches to half and remove weak ones. Reliably hardy to -27°C (USDA zone 5).
