Japanese maples are the „créme de la créme“ of every garden. A majestic looking tree needs no pruning at all and we recommend to let it form its own shape.
It is hard to believe that only a few bare branches, which you can see in winter, can develop into such a stunning thing. Foliage of this shrub almost looks like a fluffy hairdo of a red-haired lady. The leaves are deeply cut and when young they are glossy and brownish-red, in summer they turn to deep burgundy, and in the autumn they change to bright cerise-red. Among all dissectums, this one has the largest leaves. Though the branches cascade, the plant itself has a rather erect form. It requires slightly acidic, semi-fertile, moist soil to establish extensive root system.
