Mops is an elegant and very slow growing variety of dwarf mountain pine. It was bred in 1951 and has been in demand ever since. It has short, deep green needles in whorls of two. Natural habit is mound-forming, cushion-like when young, changing to rounded with age. 15-year-old plants are about 80 cm tall and just a little over 1m wide.

It is ideal for larger rockeries, containers on patios, it looks great when surrounded by white sand or pebbles. It needs full sun and well-drained soil, no fertilizing required. Fully hardy to -45°C (USDA zone 2).
