My absolute favourite border at the moment 🥰🌸🌼 Summer perennials for drought

This is my current favourite flowering border. 😊 All the flowering plants are drought‑tolerant perennials and at this time of year they are at their strongest, creating such a display that it makes the heart sing. ❤️

The border is dominated by a fantastic ground layer of Canadian verbena, which self‑seeds reliably and forms a dense carpet of pink or lilac‑tinged flowers.

From mid‑August, sky‑blue flowers of plumbago appear, together with the rich pink tubular blooms of agastache.

No border like this would be complete without coneflowers in vivid colours and cheerful yellow coreopsis.
A single stonecrop has self‑seeded here; its deep wine‑coloured leaves complement the composition beautifully, so I decided to keep it. 👍

Airiness and movement come from the Virginian perennial known as river bush. Its white flowers are only just opening now; they are subtle but charming, just like its bright silvery leaves and stems.

Changing colours throughout the season are provided by euphorbia, which is a bit of a chameleon — it looks different at every time of year.

Above it stands a multi‑flowered standard rose, producing a cascade of blooms from June right through to October.

In the centre is a speedwell that has already finished flowering, and the structure of the composition is held by several evergreen shrubs: Mexican orange blossom, cherry laurel and strawberry tree.
