Ferramol® Neudorff® natural slug control product
Protection from slugs for ecological gardening
Ferramol® is a natural granular bait against slugs and snails, effective yet safe for pets, hedgehogs, birds, bees, and other beneficial organisms. Its active ingredient is ferric phosphate, a compound naturally occurring in the environment. After eating the pellets, slugs stop feeding, retreat into hiding places, and die there – so you won’t find slimy remains on your beds. The pellets are rain‑resistant; when moist, they swell and become even more attractive to slugs.
-
What it can do: Reliably controls all common slug and snail species (Spanish slug, field slug, garden slug, etc.), works even in wet weather, and is safe for humans, pets, and beneficial wildlife.
-
What it cannot do: It does not act preventively – it only works where pellets are spread. It does not stop new slugs from migrating into the garden.
-
What to use instead: Alternatives include other molluscicides (e.g. metaldehyde‑based baits), but these can be toxic to pets and wildlife. Non‑chemical options include barriers (copper tape, wool pellets), traps, or manual collection.
Ferramol® contains ferric phosphate (FePO₄, 9.9 g/kg) as the active ingredient. Once ingested, slugs stop feeding and die in their shelters underground. Unlike metaldehyde products, Ferramol® does not cause excessive mucus secretion, so garden beds remain clean. The active ingredient breaks down into iron and phosphate – both natural plant nutrients. The product is registered as a molluscicide and approved for use in organic farming.
-
Application: scatter the pellets evenly between plants at a rate of approx. 5 g/m² (about one slightly heaped teaspoon). Apply at the first signs of slug activity, up to 4 times per season in the same area.
