Morellenfeuer is one of the top German sour morello cherries. It bears medium-sized, burgundy-black fruit with dark, juicy flesh that is both sour and light sweet, aromatic, freestone. It is ideal eaten fresh as well as processed in jams, preserves, desserts etc. It is a late variety cropping in August.
It is a self-fertile variety that needs no pollination partner. It crops reliably every year, bearing plentiful of fruit at the ends of partly weeping branches. Semi-vigorous. Grow it in well-drained, fertile soil in full sun. It will benefit from extra watering during dry spells from spring to early summer before the fruit turns red. Hardy.
