Kelly’s Gold is a fantastic box elder variety with striking yellow foliage that does not burn in full sun. It was introduced by Duncan & Davies Nursery in New Zealand in 1989 and quickly became one of the top 5 trees with yellow leaves.

Kelly’s Gold leaves are pinnate, composed of 5-7 leaflets, deciduous, rich yellow from spring to autumn with some pink shades in spring and red stalks. In autumn they fall down without any significant colour change. It grows a little slower compared with the species the crown makes a good oval to rounded shape with age. It can be pruned or shaped in any way from late autumn until early spring, always in frost-free periods.

Ash-leaved maple can take almost any well-drained soil but prefers constant moisture and medium fertile soil. Grow it in full sun or only a light shade. Very hardy to approx. -45°C (USDA zone 2).
