Kniphofia uvaria 'FLAMENCO' torch lily, red hot poker
Red hot poker is an attractive perennial making 60-100 cm long stalks with coral-red funnel-shaped flowers at the top, yellow at the bottom. They come out in June and continue blooming until August. Narrow, linear leaves are deep green and evergreen in temperate climate. It needs deep, humus-rich, well drained soil. It does best when mulched to retain moisture in summer and for protection against severe frosts in winter. Sunny or part-shaded location. Fully hardy to -24°C (USDA zone 6) or approx. -30°C (USDA zone 5) with mulch.
