Deciduous broadleaf Summer blooms |
PINK DIAMOND is an attractive variety of panicle hydrangea. It bears upto 30 cm large panicles of creamy white flowers that turn clear pink in late summer. Ovate, pointed, toothed leaves are mid green, deciduous. It grows moderately into a bushy shrub, wider than tall.
This hydrangea type can be pruned from end winter until end spring and from late summer until end autumn. Pruning ensures richer and more compact plant, however, is not necessary for regular growth. It forms a dense and abundantly flowering shrub even without shaping.
Hydrangeas like humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. pH of the soil is not important but they mea become chlorotic on shallow, chalky soil. Generally they are recommended for slightly acidic soils with plenty of organic matter. Grow them in full sun with some shade during the hottest hours of summer days. If you do not have such place just keep watering them well to prevent them from wilting. Fully hardy to min. -37°C (USDA zone 3).
