Arendsii hybrids of moss saxifrage are cute little perennials with evergreen foliage and masses of flowers early in the season. TOURAN™ is a Dutch series developed by Martien Everett Gutter and TOURAN™ NEON ROSE variety was granted these patens: EU23433 (Europe – 2014) and PP19301 (USA – 2007).
TOURAN™ NEON ROSE is a moss saxifrage selection of an older variety Blutenteppich against which it has more compact habit, earlier flowering, and glowing neon pink. They appear from mid April atop about 10 cm tall, slender, deep maroon stems.
The plant forms a compact clump of evergreen, soft green leaves. Flowers come out in profusion and create a breathtaking colourful carpet. It grows at moderate growth rate, doubling its size within one year.
Saxifrage likes moist but well-drained, loam-based soil and location in full sun or partial shade. It will form a dry nest in its centre in too dry soil in full sun. Hardy to about -34°C (USDA zone 4). NOT suitable for pots and dry rockeries.
